As part of our series Mums in Business where we like to support local mums running their very own businesses, we interview Ana Bohane this week, a local photographer and keen writer.

Tell us about you and your family
I have three boys in my life, two of them are little people aged three and one, the other is my hubby. He’s my biggest supporter and critique. We love simple things, walks by the sea, finding little treasures and going on adventures without actually having a destination in mind. When at home we listen to our favourite vinyls, we play with Lego and when out in the garden, we generally get covered in mud.

Are you originally from Worthing?
I grew up in Portugal and moved to London in 2001. I have been exploring the south coast for years and finally moved here six months ago. Best decision ever!

What’s your favourite thing about living on the South Coast?
I grew up by the sea myself and can’t imagine bringing up children anywhere else. West Sussex is so lush and with beautiful towns and farms. So much to discover! In Worthing I recommend Cafe des Artists, Molly’s Milkshakes or the Sussex Bread Co; these places rock!

Hobbies? What do you do in your spare time?
Writing is my second passion, I used to write short stories, I recently started a blog to inspire people with ideas about how to take better pictures. You can read it on my site.

Tell us about your business, why you started and what drives you on?
My business is focused on capturing the beauty of everyday life.

I got serious about photography in 2010 and got into fashion photography on a part-time basis. Then in 2013, when my first child was born I found my true calling; capturing real emotion!
I was made redundant from my day job in 2016 just after my second child was born which was a bit of a shock but it pushed me to say ‘the time is NOW’ and photography became my main focus. To me meeting new clients, getting to know them and capturing their special moment, is the best part of my job. I feel very lucky to finally be doing a job that constantly inspires me.
