You can come out now … the ‘Beast from the East’ and a rather chilly Easter Half Term are well and truly behind us! As we slowly start to peel away the layers of thermal clothing, our minds wander to the brighter halcyon days of Spring. Here is another little fashion update for Worthing Mums.
Spring Catwalk Highlights …
Many Spring/Summer fashion trends are bold and bright.
Sequins and sparkles whimsical styles.
Designers everywhere are cleverly reinventing everyday items and look out for the chic transparent tote bag, a playful feature on many catwalks. Even plastic dresses appear!
Yellow, the colour on many catwalks and seen on many Instagram influencers, it is described as a tone between a marigold and French mustard.
The sheerest of dresses with fabrics heavily embellished with embroidery and décor are lush!
Spring plaid and checks, interestingly unseasonal.
“What’s so great about fashion today is that it isn’t really one thing, there’s a lot of individuality. In every country there has been a great response to diversity and the few that haven’t heard that call, look seriously out of touch and seriously not understanding what’s happening in the world today and inclusivity”
– Anna Wintour Editor in Chief, Vogue
Spring has sprung …
Tailoring, the perfectly tailored suit is elegantly and stylishly fashionable at its best, Chloé’s horse motif will no doubt be emulated on the high street.
The Chanel Cruise Collection has exquisite tones of sand, neutral, white and gold, think chic ancient Greek explorer!
Colour is key, whether bold or pastel with an 80’s influence that continues … think shoulder pads, OTT evening wear and jumpsuits … definitely a Princess Diana influence. Even the bum bag appears in many guises … with a luxe leather option by Gucci.
But, pencil skirts were a favourite silhouette of many designers.
We’re still obsessed with the straw bag, but in spring you’ll be able to wear it with its headgear equal: the statement straw hat. Oversized at Jacquemus and twisted into a bow at Delpozo, the beachy style is so much more than your basic Panama hat.
Karl Lagerfeld put on an Autumn display of fashion and foliage at Chanel, in a show titled ‘Leave Me Alone’. A wink at the #MeToo movement? Fashion hasn’t heard or seen the last of that I believe!
But if in doubt … you can always rely on your ‘blazer + jeans + boots’ … the ultimate fashion uniform for young and old. A much loved versatile look seen on 21-year-old catwalk models and British Royalty to French Vogue Editors.
Bye for now, until next time.
