Brazil is famous for lots of things – the Rio carnival, hot sunny holidays and buck-toothed footballers. But did you know about Pão de Mel? They’re soft, sumptuous sponges flavoured with organic Brazilian honey and spices, and covered in gorgeous dark chocolate.
Hungry yet? You’re in luck because one mum from Worthing is bringing these delights to your door!
Jamedu is the creation of Mirella, who wanted to run a business whilst looking after her two young boys. Drawing on her Brazilian heritage, combined with Swiss business school knowledge and a whole heap of hard work, Jamedu was born and is proudly celebrating it’s first anniversary this September.
The Jamedu Cakes
Starting with warm spiced bread with organic Brazilian honey, the cakes are then filled with a choice of Dulce de leche, coconut or chocolate filling. If that wasn’t indulgent enough, they are then dipped in dark chocolate and hand-decorated.
The flavour is delicious but without being overpowering, and the different textures of the cake and the chocolate work very well together. The indulgence of them would make them perfect for a birthday gift, an alternative wedding dessert or just an opportunity to spoil a loved one.
What really comes across is the love that is put into each cake. They certainly don’t look or taste like something you or I could rustle up, you know that a true expert has made them just for you.
Every detail has been carefully thought out, from the decoration of the cake to the theming of the gift box. Jamedu are striving to use as much recyclable, compostable and biodegradable packaging as possible, as well as working with local suppliers.
Jamedu offer two sizes of cake – small or large, and boxes of six or twelve small, or three or six large cakes in a gift box. You can order online, with free local delivery within one business day or Royal Mail 1st or 2nd class delivery also available. The cakes do have around a week’s shelf life, so they’d be perfect to send as a gift in the post.
You can find Jamedu on their website, as well as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. They’ll also be at lots of local fairs this Autumn, such as the Pulborough Fair on 28th Sept and the South of England Autumn Show and Game Fair on 5th-6th October.
