We have a New Year’s resolution in West Sussex, and that is to improve maternity services by working alongside the people it matters to the most!
At the beginning of this year, we launched the exciting new Western Sussex Maternity Voices Partnership (MVP). The aim of the MVP is to bring together, as equals, local people who have recently been involved with Maternity Services (such as new and expectant parents…) and various health care professionals (Midwives, Health Visitors, doctors…) to review and improve current Services to ensure they are meeting the needs and wants of the public.
By being involved with the MVP you will be helping to seek out and represent the voices of women, families and carers and make sure that these voices are being heard and listened to and are reflected in the care being provided to both the families and the babies!
There are loads of different ways to get involved with the MVP; this ranges from commenting and providing feedback on the Twitter and Facebook pages to joining us for 2 hours a month at our MVP Meet-ups alongside other service users and sharing your stories and comments.
We are also currently looking for people to take on the roles of Chair and Vice Chair for the MVP. These are hugely rewarding roles which are fundamental to the running of the MVP and is a really exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about Maternity Services. Full training for these roles will be provided and time compensated. The West Sussex MVP is also part of a bigger network of MVPs in Sussex and East Surrey, as well as the National Maternity Voices, who are all amazing support to anyone who is interested; so no previous experience required!
