I’m excited to bring you this next instalment of our fabulous mums in business because we’ve been running this feature for a whole year now and met some incredible ladies over that time! So here’s to a Happy Birthday to Worthing Mums in Business and on to this months, featuring the wonderful Naomi, which many of you will already know 🙂
Tell us about you and your family
I’m a super lucky mumma of three little people and a happily married wife. Having three children in three and a half years was the biggest challenge of my life but I never seem to do things simply! I’ve been a mum for a decade now which freaks me out. My parenting adventures seem to be fluxing into the next stage now where I am focused on helping them thrive at school and socially. My mission is to help them discover themselves, what they love and what floats their boat so they can go into adulthood ready for its ups and downs. I want to teach them all the awesome stuff that I’ve learnt so they don’t have to waste decades finding out for themselves.
Are you originally from Worthing?
I was raised in Worthing since I was knee-high to a grasshopper although I’ve enjoyed a lot of travelling. I lived in Australia for 18 months where I met my husband but we’ve settled in Worthing for the past 15 years or so as all our family are here and it’s such an awesome place for the kids. We’ve got some not-so-secret travel plans hatching though. I’ve got this mad idea of a family gap-year before my eldest starts High School – so putting my intention fully on making that happen in the next 12 months.
Beach or South Downs?
Beach. Hands down every time. I spent my entire summer holidays on those pebbles! I have special memories of jam sandwiches, rock pooling and stinky banks of seaweed! My husband would choose the South Downs though so the kids get a great balance of our best local assets.
Tell us an unusual fact about yourself.
Random things about me? I arrived at my wedding on an Elephant? Was married by Buddhist monks on the beach in Thailand? Our wedding was featured in 3 wedding magazines in 2005! Before children I wanted to be a professional skydiver – I couldn’t get enough of the buzz!
If you could spend the day with any celebrity or historical figure, who would it be?
I’m obsessed by personal development and neuroscience so I’d love to spend the day with some of my heroines, Oprah Winfrey, Marie Forleo, Lisa Nicholls, ooooo makes me super excited just thinking about it!
Finally, tell us about your business, why you started and what drives you on?
My business – uflourish with Naomi began in 2009. My mind was smashed open and my life changed in more ways than I can ever describe with my second daughter’s entrance into the world and a transformative Hypnobirthing experience. My purpose was revealed with such intensity that I couldn’t ignore it. I was lucky to discover my calling and have the balls to follow it. So, I became a Hypnobirthing teacher in 2010 at www.hypnobirthworthing.co.uk.
Over the past 8 years, I have also trained as a BabyCalm & ToddlerCalm teacher – although I don’t teach those classes anymore but often use the knowledge in my current services. This grew into organising Pregnancy events and family fairs which led to Baby Business Networking and coaching.
However, to pursue our family dream of travelling – I decided to retrain as a Hypnotherapist & Psychotherapist in 2017 and am now developing a range of products and services to support women to grow in confidence at key milestones in their lives. I offer these in-person in Worthing right now but hope to be able to work online in the future and not be tied to one location. Worthing will always be my home and hold my heart though so I expect to spend a lot of time here also with our family & friends.
So, for any women that would like to turbo-charge their self-esteem and quieten her inner critic – that’s my speciality! I’ve just re-launched www.uflourish.co.uk as a place where I invite women to flourish using Hypnotherapy and Hypnobirthing – or come along to one of my Inspirational Events, especially for women. I also oversee a super lovely Facebook community called GOOD ENOUGH WOMEN – SUSSEX – where wonderful local ladies chat, seek support and inspire one another.
Naomi is a mother of three little people, Hypnotherapist, Hypnobirthing teacher and Inspirational events for women organiser. Tea-aholic and silver shoe lover.
