As a parent, healthy eating as a family is one of my biggest bugbears, especially when it comes to the kids. It’s super easy to pick up cheap snacks at the supermarket, but they’re not always the healthiest option. I’ve lost count of the number of times I’ve tried to introduce a ‘healthy’ snack, for them to point blank refuse to try it or turn their nose up after their first lick.

Treat Trunk is a great option for us. It’s a subscription box packed full of tasty treats and it’s not just for kids, there’s plenty in there for adults to try too. All the snacks have been hand-picked for their nutritional values, but without compromising on taste (or appeal to little ones). The snacks you receive change every month, so there’s always something new to try out.

There’s a huge selection in the box, including well-known names like BEAR and nakd alongside new brands to try. It’s great because you end up trying products you wouldn’t normally buy in the shops, like the vegan chocolate biscuits and chestnut crackers in our trunk. Treat Trunk has made us more adventurous and I’m already seeking out where I can buy the treats in bulk again!

Here are a few of our favourites in this month’s box:

Boundless activated nuts and seeds

These are almonds, cashews, pumpkin and sunflower seeds which have been soaked in water and then baked with cayenne and rosemary. It gives a better flavour than dry roasting and is certainly healthier than salted nuts! The kids weren’t 100% keen, but hubby certainly was!

LioBites strawberry & banana smoothie bites

Don’t be put off by the bright pink colour of these strawberry and banana bites, they’re super moreish! I shared some with the kids, and they were great for breakfast. The bag is big enough to feel like you’re getting a treat, but without being too much.

Wholey Moly Cookie

Feed the craving without misbehaving – I loved the slogan on this cookie! It’s free from refined sugar and butter, so you can really enjoy it without feeling guilty. It was super tasty too, and it was brilliant having one individual cookie in a pack (a packet would not have stood a chance in our house!!)

Really surprising was the reaction my kids had to the Treat Trunk snacks. Although my daughter was a bit cautious at first, both she and her big brother got stuck in! There were snacks in there that they’ve refused to try before, but the novelty of them arriving in a big box was a big draw! It was especially good for us that there were healthy varieties of ‘normal’ snacks in the box, like flapjacks and cereal bars.

Super yummy choccie biccies!

I really enjoyed the treats too. I’m often found resorting to a sugary snack at work in the afternoon, but Treat Trunk meant that I had something ready in my bag. I’m already obsessed with the nakd Bakewell Tart bars!

Sally is the owner of Treat Trunk and set it up to try and help other families combat the negative effects of sugar addiction. Sally has researched extensively in nutrition, health trends and innovation. This means that you can be confident that the snacks within your Treat Trunk are great for your body and mind.

There are two size options available for your Treat Trunk subscription, standard or mini, plus you can also buy a one-off box if you need more treats in your life. It would make a great gift too.
