East Preston Food & Drink Festival is back for its fourth year. Spend a fun summer’s day eating, drinking and socialising with friends and family on East Preston’s lovely Village Green.
This multi-vendor, vibrant food and drink festival is going to be a foodie and tipple-lovers heaven. Pizza to Pimms to puddings to preserves…
As well as the stalls, there will be food demonstrations and children’s entertainment throughout.
For 2019 the theme for the carnival procession is ‘TOYS’, and we are looking for as many entrants as possible this year to decorate their floats in line with this theme.
The Carnival Procession is planned for Monday 26th August and will assemble between 10:00 and 12:00 along West Parade, between Grand Avenue and Wallasey Avenue. To help in ensuring the parade lines up in the correct order, please enter the holding area along West Parade from George V Avenue. The procession will depart from West Parade at the southern end of Grand Avenue at 12:30, arriving in Steyne Gardens around 13:30, where the winner of ‘Best Entry’ for Themed, Dance & Open will be presented at approximately 14:00 on the central stage at the southern end of Steyne Gardens. In addition, a full programme of live entertainment (all to be confirmed) including Strongman, Music, Car Show, Circus Acts, Face Painting, children’s play area and a Dog Show will keep people entertained throughout the afternoon. A range of stalls and other attractions are also planned, both in Steyne Gardens and along the Promenade.
The ‘Best Entry’ will be judged by the three Worthing Rotary Club Presidents during the procession, therefore please ensure your identity number, which will be issued on the day, is visible as you proceed along the seafront.
There are a few basic rules that we ask you to adhere to ensure we have a safe and successful carnival:
• Please respect and adhere to all instructions from the Marshals, paying particular attention to parking. Remember, the carnival procession lines up and routes along residential roads and we do not wish to spoil it for future carnivals by blocking driveways and upsetting residents.
• Please ensure no rubbish or belongings are left on the side of the road when you line up for the procession.
Over the few years’ we have been fortunate with good weather, and lets’ hope that the same will happen this year. However, whatever the elements throw at us, as in previous years, the procession will take place so please ensure if the forecast is unfavourable that you have appropriate and adequate protection for the conditions.
if you are interested in entering the Procession, please fill out this online form https://forms.gle/tZ5MvKeRtpKoPTFp7
Please note, that the nearest toilets during line up are in Marine Gardens.
Finally, I look forward to receiving your application form and I am sure that we will all have FUN on the day.

Repair Cafes are free meeting places where people can come together to repair things that might otherwise end up in landfill. You’ll find volunteers there with appropriate tools to help you repair all kinds of things, some needing more expertise than others, so you can learn new skills, make new friends and have someone there to guide you.
Or you can simply come along and have a cuppa and see what it’s all about. Each month we hope to have different types of repairs going on, we will post up what exactly nearer the time. We also hope to have a refill service where you can help move Worthing towards being a zero waste town.
If you would like to bring something to repair, please book online via our new website – www.worthingrepaircafe.org – so we can allocate a time slot for you to avoid queuing.
